Our Junior Pathway

SAP Academy – Players aged 4-12
From SAP Academy to Competitive Football
South West Phoenix’s commitment to player development began with our first club-based Skill Acquisition Program in 2016, bringing together a small group of passionate young players eager to take their game to the next level. Since then, our pathway has continued to grow, providing clear progression from MiniRoos into structured, competitive football.
Our Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) is designed for talented players aged 4–12, offering a fun, challenging, and professional training environment. This phase is critical in a player’s development, focusing on building the technical foundation needed to succeed as the game becomes more competitive.
As the only NPL club outside the metropolitan area, South West Phoenix provides a unique and accessible pathway for regional players to develop their skills and pursue higher levels of football.
SAP AcademyThe Skill Acquisition Phase is centred around developing strong technical ability — the foundation of every successful player.
A strong emphasis on core technical skills in every session- Structured, theme-based training focused on key areas of development- Building habits that cannot easily be developed later if missed at this stage- Recognising that technical ability underpins all aspects of the game
At this age, players are ready for a more structured and focused approach to training. Each session is carefully designed around a specific skill, ensuring consistent development from start to finish.
Session Details: Sessions: Sunday Mornings during soccer seasonLocation: Onside Sports Stadium, Bunbury
